A OpenText Case Study
Clifford Chance, a global law firm with about 6,000 lawyers and business services staff in 29 offices across 20 countries, found through a knowledge‑management survey that people struggled to search simultaneously across the firm’s dispersed resources. The KM team faced fragmented systems, inconsistent metadata and taxonomy, variable bandwidth across offices, and the need to surface local, regional or firm‑wide content appropriately.
Using OpenText Decisiv Search with OpenText Professional Services, the firm built "CC Search" through a five‑stage implementation that normalized and mapped metadata to a standard taxonomy, integrated seven global systems, created a lightweight UI for low‑bandwidth locations, and enabled default user search preferences by office/region. The result is a single unified search returning results from seven systems, consistent filters and relevancy, faster performance in remote offices, a successful pilot and full global rollout that quickly helped users find previously hard‑to‑locate information.
