China Development Bank - Customer Case Study

China Development Industrial Bank, Taiwan’s largest direct investment institution serving over 400 corporate clients, needed to standardize and accelerate its backup and disaster-recovery processes for Microsoft Windows servers. Its previous varied, manual recovery procedures could take more than a day and required duplicate standby servers, creating operational risk and high hardware costs.

The bank deployed PlateSpin Protect from OpenText (36 licenses) to create scheduled, hardware-independent virtual replicas of production systems—working with both VMware and physical servers—while systems remain online. This automated solution enables failover in about 15 minutes, reduces administrative workload and human error, and cuts disaster-recovery hardware needs to roughly one physical server per 15 replicas, meeting the bank’s 20-minute RTO.
