CF Industries, a global manufacturer that converts natural gas into nitrogen with about 3,000 employees and nine production complexes, faced inefficient change control across the enterprise: three separate change-control processes that slowed turnaround and complicated compliance. The company wanted to consolidate processes to improve efficiency, speed up incident resolution, and meet regulatory requirements.

CF Industries implemented Micro Focus Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) as a single SDLC and change-control platform, integrating ALM with its Ivanti ITSM Service Desk via Microsoft BizTalk so incidents and change tickets are created, tested, and closed automatically. The team also built a test automation framework for SAP BI/BO, adopted a monthly UNIT–SIT–UAT release cycle, and trained users on the new process. Results included consolidation to one change-control process and two SDLCs, reduced incident turnaround from weeks to days, SOX compliance, and streamlined enterprise QA and incident resolution.
