Camera dei Deputati, the lower house of the Italian parliament with about 1,700 employees including 630 elected representatives plus external users like journalists, faced a constant churn of user access needs. Ensuring accurate, timely access for deputies, staff and external collaborators was consuming IT time, increasing costs and raising security concerns as roles, promotions and personnel changes occurred frequently.
The organization implemented NetIQ Identity Manager, Access Manager and Sentinel to create a single identity repository and role-based provisioning model that delegates role definition to departmental managers. The solution automates provisioning and deprovisioning, provides single sign-on for web users and adds continuous security monitoring and audit trails, resulting in faster, simpler access administration, clearer authorization visibility, reduced IT overhead and stronger protection of sensitive data.
