Camden Council avoids £11 million in building costs, and lifts efficiency with Content Manager

Camden Council needed to replace paper boxes, filing cabinets, and scattered databases with a secure way to manage millions of physical and electronic records, while also supporting better collaboration and more flexible working. Working with OpenText and its Content Manager product, the Council launched a Paper Reduction Project to digitize records and move day-to-day office data into Microsoft SharePoint.

OpenText’s Content Manager helped Camden Council create a single electronic document management system, scan and index hundreds of thousands of records, and tailor access for different teams. The results included reducing paper records by nearly 80%, keeping only 7% on site, and handling about 50,000 new documents each month with 65,000 records viewed monthly; the invoice team also reported spending 20% less time on enquiries, and 83% of users said they liked the system.
