Building supplies company creates a reliable IT environment with virtual desktops

Segl Bauzentrum, a building materials company in Germany, wanted to modernize its IT by replacing 160 desktop clients with virtual desktops and moving backups to a central, more reliable environment. To support this transformation, it worked with OpenText partner Datapex and used OpenText VM Explorer for backup protection.

OpenText VM Explorer helped Segl Bauzentrum build a stable, fully virtualized setup with centrally managed backups. The company is already backing up 20 to 25 virtual machines and storing about 6.5 TB of data, while overnight backups avoid performance impact on business applications. The result, according to Segl Bauzentrum, is a system that now runs “stably and reliably.”
