A OpenText Case Study
British Standards Institution (BSI), a global leader in standards development, faced slow, inconsistent and costly handling of large volumes of incoming documents from bodies like ISO, IEC, CEN and CENELEC. Committee secretaries had to manually download, upload and index materials, creating delays when staff were unavailable and increasing processing costs and variability across committees.
BSI implemented OpenText solutions—including Content Suite Platform, Communities of Practice and Extended Workflow—hosted in the cloud, to automate document ingestion, consistent naming/indexing, searchable PDF rendering and member notifications. As a result, documents are typically available within 24–48 hours, capture consistency improved so any secretary can manage files, manual effort and costs were reduced, and accessibility for more than 11,000 committee members was greatly enhanced, with room for further automation and scaling.
