A OpenText Case Study
Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, a leading U.S. intellectual property law firm of about 150 attorneys, needed to replace a folder‑based approach to document storage, secure firm‑wide user adoption of a new system, improve access and sharing of information, and replace a homegrown extranet with a secure web‑based collaboration workspace.
The firm deployed OpenText eDOCS Document Management and its extranet module, piloting with 30 users and scaling to full rollout within months. The intuitive Outlook/Explorer/web views, email drag‑and‑drop, OCR and secure client “data rooms” delivered searches in seconds, rapid adoption across departments, more than 200,000 documents and hundreds of matters in the system, usage growth of 30% then 62%, ~40 clients on personalized extranets, lower consulting and maintenance costs, and measurable improvements in client service and collaboration.
