boxIT, a San Francisco IT services provider with 14 staff managing about 1,900 systems for more than 100 clients, needed a single, simple backup solution for its growing private-cloud VM environment. A patchwork of legacy tools increased training and troubleshooting overhead, consumed bandwidth (causing weekend backups to run into weekdays), and created customer-impacting slowdowns.

boxIT implemented Micro Focus VM Explorer to centralize agentless VM backups using vSphere snapshots. The low-resource solution enabled eight simultaneous backups (more than 95 TB/week) for over 85 VMs, delivered eight-times faster backups, and cut labor and training costs—training takes about 10 minutes—while eliminating system slowdowns, simplifying restores, and enabling a smooth data center migration with 12–15 replications.
