bmi - Customer Case Study

bmi, a major UK airline serving 10 million passengers a year, faced operational and regulatory challenges after reconfiguring some short-haul flights to a single cabin (requiring new seat-allocation and cross-department booking visibility) and when the UK doubled air passenger duty (APD), forcing a rapid, low-impact response to notify customers and apply charges.

Using Micro Focus Verastream SDK for Unisys and Airlines, we developed a pre-seater that allocates premium seats 24 hours before departure and a fast APD-screening process that emails customers with contact details and routes others to call-center agents. The solution streamlined booking workflows, improved data management, enabled Diamond Club mileage redemptions online, met regulatory requirements, reduced costs and preserved customer satisfaction.
