A OpenText Case Study
Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Egypt’s major cultural and research complex serving around 1.5 million visitors a year, faced a massive paper problem: hundreds of business processes across HR, Finance, Legal and more relied on physical files, with roughly 15,000 new documents created each month and stored indefinitely. The institution sought to digitize existing records and automate workflows to boost efficiency, cut costs, improve compliance and enhance user experience.
BA implemented OpenText Documentum Platform with Documentum xCP and Captiva, integrating the solution with Oracle E‑Business Suite, SharePoint and custom systems using in‑house developers. The rollout automated more than 90 large-scale processes for some 2,300 users, now manages about 500,000 documents (growing by 15,000/month), reduced time spent searching and handling paper, improved reporting and compliance, and moved the organization significantly toward a paperless environment.
