Automotive Company - Customer Case Study

Automotive Company, a global supplier of vehicle components with operations across three continents, needed to consolidate multiple data centers after a series of acquisitions and move its mixed physical and VMware-based environment to Microsoft Hyper-V. Limited WAN bandwidth, unreliable connections, and the need to avoid lengthy downtime made the migration especially challenging, so it turned to OpenText PlateSpin Migrate.

OpenText implemented PlateSpin Migrate with a staged migration approach: initial images were created locally, shipped to regional data centers, deployed as Hyper-V virtual machines, tested, and then synchronized with incremental updates over the WAN. The result was more than 1,000 server migrations completed, lower disruption to production systems, and a faster, lower-cost consolidation program that is on track to finish on schedule.
