Atos Healthcare, a UK division of Atos Origin that performs one million medical assessments annually and supports 680,000 employees across 150 treatment centers, needed to meet a mandated cost-reduction program while keeping its UNIX-based Ingres back end unchanged. The challenge was to modernize front-end access to legacy green‑screen applications and deploy them via Citrix despite an existing emulator that couldn’t integrate with Citrix, had keyboard-translation issues, and was hard to deploy on thin clients.

Atos implemented Micro Focus Reflection terminal emulation within its Citrix environment, enabling secure, seamless access to UNIX/OpenVMS host applications from about 1,700 ICA clients across 150+ sites. The solution reduced operating costs and total cost of ownership, improved performance and productivity, simplified remote reporting and management, complied with regulatory mandates, and delivered reliable post-sales support.
