A OpenText Case Study

Preview of the ArcelorMittal Bremen GmbH Case Study

ArcelorMittal Bremen uses OpenText™ Data Protector as an efficient and reliable way to back up most of its business data

ArcelorMittal Bremen GmbH, a major steel producer, needed a reliable way to back up a highly complex and heterogeneous IT environment to support continuous plant availability. Its data landscape included Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, SAP, file servers, technical systems, and archive data spread across physical, virtual, and partitioned systems.

OpenText Data Protector provided a centralized, largely automated backup solution that ArcelorMittal Bremen has used for more than 20 years. OpenText enabled backups across about 400 physical servers, 90 logical partitions, 570 VMware virtual machines, and 120 databases, while combining physical and virtual systems in one backup console; it also supported standardization and high availability, with StoreOnce achieving an average 9:1 compression ratio.
