Aquilon Software builds and supports a large, Windows-based ERP for small and medium manufacturers and distributors; the system spans over four million lines of code, 5,000 programs and thousands of screens, and delivers core functions like accounting, inventory, CRM and manufacturing. Their challenge was modernizing a legacy Micro Focus COBOL toolchain—reducing the learning curve for new developers, improving version control and debugging, and simplifying a time‑consuming client deployment process.
Aquilon moved development to Micro Focus Visual COBOL for Visual Studio, adopted Micro Focus COBOL Server and kept AccuRev for cross‑platform versioning. The transition delivered about a 10% rise in developer productivity, streamlined version control and code review, much improved debugging and build feedback, and a simpler, server‑based deployment that eliminated per‑PC installs—resulting in more reliable builds and faster IT service delivery.
