A OpenText Case Study
The Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA) is a UK executive agency responsible for safeguarding animal and public health through research, surveillance and laboratory services. Faced with roughly 2,000 SOPs (26,000 versions) across 17 sites, the agency struggled with time‑consuming print distribution, version control, and the need to meet international accreditations and ISO standards—especially when rapid procedure changes were required during disease outbreaks.
AHVLA deployed the OpenText ECM Suite to centralize and control documentation: SOPs are now immediately available to authorized staff, prints are date/time stamped, reviewers receive notifications, and approvals use electronic signatures with a full audit trail. The solution eliminated distribution delays and costs, improved compliance and traceability, and provided powerful search and multiple access methods for faster, more reliable operations.
