Anglian Water Implements an Integrated Knowledge Management Solution

Anglian Water, which supplies water and recycling services to more than six million customers and is the largest water company in England and Wales by geographic area, needed 24/7 access to accurate information as structured and unstructured data volumes grew. A fragmented file storage system and an aging intranet with duplicated and outdated content made it hard for employees and contractors to find information quickly, risking service efficiency and compliance.

Anglian implemented an integrated knowledge management platform using OpenText solutions — including Extended ECM for SAP, Content Server, SharePoint archiving and web site management — to connect SAP processes with its intranet. The new system streamlined maintenance and materials management, saving about 4,500 employee hours per week, established corporate retention, archive and naming standards for compliance, and created a single point of truth for document history, versioning and audit trails to reduce regulatory risk.
