Alberta Motor Association re-paves document system for increased business traffic

Alberta Motor Association (AMA), a CAA/AAA-affiliated insurer serving nearly one million members in Alberta, faced slow, paper-based underwriting and claims processes that required desk-to-desk routing and centralized filing. Document retrieval routinely took two weeks and sometimes up to three months, with poor integration between legacy systems, lost or delayed files, and frustrated staff and customers.

AMA rebuilt its insurance production and claims systems and integrated them with OpenText Content Suite (plus Brava! and WebReports), scanning incoming files into a centralized, workflow-enabled repository accessible via a “Livelink” button to more than 16 million documents. The change delivered real-time, same-day document availability (documents now usable in minutes), reduced mailing and storage costs (repurposing a 300‑sq‑ft file room), enabled faster sales, underwriting and claims handling, and improved customer service and operational efficiency.
