Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) supports about 5,000 users across 93 schools and administrative sites and relied on GroupWise for critical communications. Its third‑party, tape‑based backup process could take up to three days to complete, leaving the district vulnerable and unable to meet recovery needs quickly.

SCUSD deployed Micro Focus GroupWise Disaster Recovery, using a collector/RSYNC model for hot backups and quick message restores. Backups went from three days to minutes, now run daily, and administrators can restore the system at the push of a button or recover individual emails, calendar items or address books in about 15 minutes, saving significant time and effort.
