AcuToWeb supports rapid modernization, providing agile decision making and a clear digital future

Railway Furnishers, a South African furniture, appliance, and clothing retailer, needed to rapidly modernize its long-running COBOL-based systems when COVID-19 forced all 43 stores to close. The company had to move quickly to support digital retail and online payments, while preserving its existing investment in legacy applications. OpenText AcuToWeb was used to help deliver that transformation.

OpenText implemented AcuToWeb to modernize the ACUCOBOL application UI into HTML for web access, enable a single code base across Unix, Linux, Windows, web, and mobile, and add secure URL encryption for transactions. As a result, Railway Furnishers introduced two payment gateways and was back online within a week, allowing customers to pay safely from home and improving agility and decision-making in a modern digital environment.
