ABS Navigates the Review and Markup Process with OpenText Brava

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), a leading global classification society serving shipyards and marine clients, faced a slow, paper-based review process: customers submitted drawings in many formats, engineers manually routed and marked up paper copies, and reviews often took several weeks. ABS needed an electronic, format‑agnostic solution that would speed reviews without constraining customers or requiring multiple expensive applications.

ABS built a custom interface on OpenText Content Suite and deployed OpenText BRAVA! as a web‑based view-and-markup tool that handles Word, PDF, PowerPoint and CAD files, consolidates markups from multiple reviewers, and publishes reviewed drawings to PDF with watermarks. With up to 120 engineers collaborating globally, ABS cut average turnaround from about two weeks to two days, eliminated the need for multiple software applications, and enabled faster, centralized collaboration.
