A2A - Customer Case Study

A2A, a leading multi-utility in Lombardy, Italy, needed a trusted, comprehensive way to control access for its 6,000 internal users across multiple nonintegrated applications. Under pressure from national regulations and facing manual authorization processes that could take days per person, the company sought an automated identity and access management solution to reduce operational risk and enforce segregation-of-duty controls.

Working with Deloitte, A2A implemented NetIQ Identity Manager in a phased rollout (phase one completed in nine months), creating standard role-based entitlements, automated provisioning, real-time identity updates and password synchronization across core SAP applications. The deployment eliminated paper-based user management, sped up provisioning, improved compliance and risk detection (flagging cross-area actions), and is being prepared for group-wide extension.
