York University Extends Value of PeopleSoft Application with Actuate

York University, a major Canadian higher-education institution, relied on PeopleSoft for finance, HR and alumni systems but found its reporting process slow, manual and insecure. Financial management reports took seven days to produce, outputs were delivered as hard copy or static PDFs (forcing users to re‑key data), some ad hoc reports were manually emailed in Excel, and report security and automation did not meet the university’s needs.

York implemented Actuate (with reseller Inforica) to build an integrated Secure Report Distribution System for PeopleSoft that delivers consistent, downloadable web reports and native Excel outputs (with formulas preserved) via Actuate e.Spreadsheet. The automated solution shortened the report life cycle, eliminated manual re‑keying, strengthened security and decision-making, and reduced costs—cutting print/production by $600K and delivering a net annual saving of $420K with an annual TCO of $180K.
