NSTAR, Massachusetts’ largest investor-owned electric and gas utility serving 1.4 million customers with 3,000 employees, faced fragmented reporting and manual weekly Excel updates after a 1999 merger. This made it difficult to communicate performance, standardize metrics, and support fact-based strategic planning across the organization.
In March 2004 NSTAR deployed ActuateOne for Performance Analytics to centralize and standardize reporting. The solution consolidated 900 measures across about 400 locations into the “NSTAR Performance System,” gave managers company-wide access, reduced report creation time, supported monthly performance reviews, and became the foundation for ongoing performance planning and fact-based decision making.
