AMT — The Association For Manufacturing Technology, a century-old trade group supporting U.S. manufacturers, faced a classic data problem: a mountain of market and industry data but no efficient way to access, analyze, and deliver timely insights. Analysts spent excessive time compiling one-off reports from multiple sources, limiting service to members and constraining revenue opportunities, so AMT set out to build an online BI portal to enable faster, self-service access to its data.
AMT evaluated vendors and chose Actuate’s BIRT onDemand and ActuateOne to power MTInsight, a cloud-based, open-source friendly portal launched in June 2011. With vendor training and close member collaboration, MTInsight delivered on-demand reports and dashboards, slashed report production times (some monthly reports went from ~12 hours to seconds), saved subscribers hours weekly, enabled more competitive pricing for custom work, and created new revenue and partnership opportunities.
