Northeast Utilities, a Fortune 500 energy company serving Connecticut, western Massachusetts and New Hampshire through four operating companies, needed to consolidate and scale its Balanced Scorecard performance tracking. The challenge was aggregating diverse metrics and location data across subsidiaries on a tight rollout timeline while training a large number of users.

NU selected Actuate Performancesoft Views in October 2003 to create a single system-wide database and used a Train‑the‑Trainer rollout to meet the aggressive schedule; the database was populated by February 2004. The solution enabled a unified, scalable Balanced Scorecard across all four companies, is used in monthly management reviews, and quickly proved to be an effective measurement and management tool.
