MAXIMUS Leverages BIRT Technology to Deliver Powerful, Integrated Reporting for Facility Management Applications

MAXIMUS, a leading government services company, needed a lower-cost, scalable and cross-platform reporting solution for its FacilityMAX facility and asset management application after rewriting the product to 100% Java/Java EE. Facing customer demand to replace desktop report tools and support large volumes of data across diverse environments, MAXIMUS sought an integrated, web-based reporting engine that would work with existing infrastructure and improve KPI visibility for facilities managers.

MAXIMUS embedded the open-source BIRT (Eclipse) reporting engine into FacilityMAX, using BIRT designer and viewer with single sign-on, report repository storage, and real-time, refreshable KPI reports. The integration was completed in days (QA and packaging over six months) and delivered lower total cost of ownership, faster time to market, reduced operational overhead, and higher customer satisfaction across its public-sector customer base.
