Lowering the Total Cost of Ownership with Actuate

BNY Mellon, formed by the 2007 merger of The Bank of New York and Mellon Financial, needed to consolidate two distinct reporting environments (Crystal Reports/WebLogic and Actuate/WebSphere) into a single, scalable platform to support a rapidly growing global asset-servicing business. The firm required a solution that could handle more than 100,000 users and scale up to millions of reports per month while reducing costs and operational complexity.

BNY Mellon selected Actuate to power its Workbench reporting application, leveraging reusable components, J2EE support, multi-format output and drill-down analytics. Deployed on a single server and re-architected with Actuate Professional Services, the platform now delivers roughly one million reports monthly, increased active users from 15,000 to 40,000, improved system performance by 30–40%, lowered total cost of ownership through application consolidation, and boosted advisor productivity and customer self-service.
