A OpenText Analytics Case Study
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) needed a better way to deliver critical Real Estate Management System (REMS) data to staff. A homegrown web‑reporting solution produced huge HTML result sets that caused browser hangs and timeouts, and could not support the flexible, ad‑hoc filtering (up to 50 criteria) users required across a portfolio of insured and assisted properties.
HUD integrated the Actuate enterprise reporting platform into REMS, using its APIs to tie into the existing ColdFusion/Sybase environment. Actuate generates on‑demand, paginated reports (even for requests exceeding 5,000 pages), provides 28 operational reports and flexible ad‑hoc querying, and significantly improved performance and usability—giving 1,400 HUD employees reliable access to inspection, servicing and financial property data.
