A OpenText Analytics Case Study
Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, which employs around 1,000 people across 24 stations and serves more than 1 million residents over 834 square miles, faced a clear governance gap after an Audit Commission report found its project management activities inadequate. The Service had no consistent strategy or software to monitor projects such as equipment purchases, policy changes, or shift reorganizations, leaving progress and risks hard to track.
To address this, the Service implemented Actuate Performancesoft Track — a natural extension of its existing Views performance tools — instead of adopting a costly, complex alternative like Microsoft Project. The new solution delivered rapid user adoption through a familiar interface, centralized commentary for senior reporting, traffic light visual alerts, and up-to-date timelines to keep projects on schedule. These capabilities improved oversight, enabled continual learning from past projects, and were later complemented by Actuate BIRT to enhance reporting.
