ChemWare, a Raleigh-based provider of laboratory automation since 1987, offers the HORIZON® LIMS as a pre-configured system for environmental and clinical labs. Although HORIZON centralized lab records and included a PowerGrid mining tool, ChemWare needed a reporting solution that could deliver highly graphical, complex reports in multiple web-ready formats (PDF, DHTML, RTF, CSV), integrate seamlessly and securely into HORIZON, and let thousands of users—and labs producing up to 5,000 test reports per day—customize reports without vendor help.

ChemWare integrated Actuate into HORIZON to migrate existing Brio reports and develop a suite of 100+ off-the-shelf reports, leveraging Actuate’s web capabilities and familiar skill set. The solution put advanced filtering and report-building tools in end users’ hands, reduced migration impact, and enabled secure, efficient web delivery of final reports—improving customer satisfaction, expanding ChemWare’s product offering, and giving labs greater control over report customization.
