A OpenSesame Case Study
The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), a UK statutory body for the engineering construction workforce, needed to digitally transform its skills development to meet Industry 4.0 demands and broaden access to training. The challenge was moving beyond in-person delivery to a flexible, digital-first model that could serve organisations of all sizes efficiently. To address this, the ECITB partnered with OpenSesame, integrating its course marketplace into a new digital learning ecosystem.
The solution implemented with OpenSesame provided a centralised platform offering over 8,500 courses, primarily from OpenSesame's marketplace. This enabled three access models for organisations: a ready-made academy, branded employer-owned academies, or direct content transfer to existing systems. The results were significant, with over 103,000 course completions, an average annual cost saving of £22,000 per company, and a reduction in per-course cost from £34 to £10. OpenSesame's partnership helped generate £3.5 million in added value, broaden access to grants, and fund the workforce's green energy transition.
