Case Study: Cherokee Nation achieves a next-generation workforce and 100% employee participation with OpenSesame

A OpenSesame Case Study

Preview of the Cherokee Nation Case Study

Cherokee Nation Builds a Next-Generation Workforce — and Community

Cherokee Nation, a sovereign tribal government and one of northeastern Oklahoma’s largest employers with about 11,000 staff, needed to move beyond limited classroom-only training that reached roughly 15% of its workforce. The organization wanted an adaptable, accessible learning program to develop employees’ skills, advance careers, and strengthen community outcomes.

By integrating OpenSesame’s curated course library with a new LMS and university-level certification offerings from the University of Oklahoma, Cherokee Nation launched a broad rollout that included targeted communications and demos. Results include 100% employee participation, an average of 12+ courses per user per month (up from about three), a 95% course completion rate with 4+ star reviews, use of training as a recruiting tool, and concrete career advancement—one employee completed 80 courses and became a budget analyst.
