Preview of the Line Case Study

Line powers 10 petabytes and 1,280+ clusters with OpenSearch

LINE, a platform supporting over 194 million monthly active users across Asia, faced significant operational burdens from its previous Elasticsearch setup on physical servers and Kubernetes. The company needed a unified, high-performance search and analytics backend capable of handling 10 petabytes of data across more than 1,280 clusters to support log analytics, monitoring, and prepare for new AI agent services requiring vector search.

By migrating fully to OpenSearch, LINE achieved a highly stable and reliable platform with multi-AZ high availability and automated data lifecycle management. The solution enabled LINE to rapidly launch over 80 new clusters within six months, support workloads at 2,000-3,000 RPS, and grow its footprint from 300 to nearly 1,300 clusters with zero data loss. OpenSearch now serves as the core AI-ready search backbone, positioning LINE to deliver agentic search capabilities at scale.
