Why Did We Choose OpenNebula for Runtastic?

Runtastic, an Austrian-based mobile fitness company, needed to select a new technology to run its virtual environment to support its ecosystem and 50 million users. The company sought a flexible and adaptable open-source alternative to its previous commercial solutions. They chose to implement a private cloud infrastructure using OpenNebula.

The solution implemented by OpenNebula provided Runtastic with the flexibility to grow and adapt to its evolving needs, starting from a familiar virtualization setup and enabling future evolution. The resulting infrastructure consisted of 300 virtual machines on thirty OpenNebula nodes, successfully ensuring that 100 million downloaded apps and 50 million registered users could reliably access services.
