The Department of Environment and Spatial Planning (dOMG), a Flemish government agency, was facing significant challenges with hardware vendor lock-in, an inability to scale, and high costs from their previous closed-source infrastructure solution. To escape this, they sought a more scalable on-premises cloud platform that could offer automation, self-service, and improved disaster recovery. They turned to OpenNebula Systems for a solution.

OpenNebula provided the agency with an open-source cloud platform that enabled a dual datacenter setup with high availability. The solution from OpenNebula fully met their expectations, successfully eliminating vendor lock-in, shortening disaster recovery times, and supporting their scale of nearly 800 weekly deployments and 2,000 VMs. The dOMG was so confident in the OpenNebula solution that they adopted all of the vendor's commercial services for future plans.
