Ooma, a telecommunications company, faced increasing infrastructure complexity as they shifted from bare metal servers to virtual machines. They needed a centralized way to manage VM utilization, simplify migrations, and streamline the time-consuming process of provisioning new VMs. They turned to the vendor OpenNebula Systems for a solution.

By implementing OpenNebula's cloud platform, Ooma gained a centralized view of its infrastructure through the Sunstone GUI, allowing for automated VM provisioning and easier resource management. The open source solution provided scalability and flexibility, supporting their growth to four data centers with about 70 hosts and close to 500 VMs. OpenNebula enabled a painless shift to virtualization, transforming previously painful processes like resizing VMs into simple point-and-click operations.
