The customer, UCLouvain (Université catholique de Louvain), a top private university in Belgium, required a modernized and flexible infrastructure to support its strategic goals. They needed a centralized system for managing their extensive KVM-based virtualization and storage environment, with the capability to build hybrid clouds. This challenge led them to the vendor, OpenNebula Systems, and their OpenNebula cloud management platform.

OpenNebula Systems provided a simple, open-source solution that gave UCLouvain multi-platform administration and automation capabilities. The result was a robust and scalable platform, which now centrally hosts nearly all university services, from e-learning to their main portal. The implementation, consisting of 74 hypervisors and over 1000 VMs, provides the flexibility and stability needed for the university's future growth, solidifying OpenNebula's central role in their data center.
