Borg Warner Automotive, a global automotive manufacturer, needed a better way to manage engineering software licenses across 67 locations and multiple time zones. With hundreds of license servers and thousands of features to track across CAD and CAE tools, reporting was highly manual, slow, and difficult to standardize. OpenLM was brought in, along with its Reporting Hub extension, to help improve license administration and reporting.

Using OpenLM, Borg Warner rebuilt nearly all of its reports and automated license analysis across its software portfolio. The result was a dramatic reduction in effort: exporting and preparing a report for one product fell from 12 man days to just 3 hours, and reports could now be refreshed within minutes instead of only monthly. OpenLM enabled more flexible, reusable, near-time reporting, allowing the team to focus on optimizing license usage rather than building reports.
