Leading Australian university delivers just-in-time education aimed to upskill nurses and frontline workers amidst COVID-19 outbreak

Australian Catholic University (ACU) faced the challenge of rapidly upskilling a large number of nurses across the state of Victoria during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The university needed to develop and deliver an agile online education program that could provide constantly evolving information and facilitate state-wide access for frontline healthcare workers. ACU partnered with OpenLearning to address this critical need.

OpenLearning provided its online learning platform to deliver the COVID4NURSES program. The solution allowed ACU to quickly build the course, update information in real time, and facilitate engagement among a geographically dispersed audience. The program enrolled 975 frontline workers and resulted in a significant 25% average increase in knowledge, as measured by pre- and post-surveys, with a completion rate of 27.3% that exceeded industry standards for free online courses.
