A OpenLearning Case Study
DeakinCo, part of Deakin University, sought to address the skills gap in the Australian workforce by providing non-formal learning opportunities. Their challenges included recognizing prior experience, enabling flexible learning for workers, and offering micro-credentials that could stack towards qualifications. They partnered with the vendor OpenLearning to develop a solution using the OpenLearning platform and the OpenCreds micro-credential framework.
OpenLearning implemented an end-to-end solution that supported DeakinCo's reflection and assessment methodologies. The collaboration resulted in the delivery of 18 industry-backed OpenCred short courses, which were localized across two regions. This provided learners with a high-quality, flexible learning experience and equipped them with in-demand soft skills, improving their workplace performance and future employability.
