A OpenLearning Case Study

Preview of the AKPK Case Study

AKPK helps 170,000+ Malaysians qualify for low-interest loans

The Malaysian Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) was tasked by the Central Bank of Malaysia to provide a mandatory financial education module for first-time home buyers. The challenge was to deliver this program affordably and effectively on a nationwide scale to improve the low financial literacy levels of applicants. AKPK partnered with OpenLearning to find a digital solution.

The implemented solution was the RUMAHKU online module, a self-paced course delivered via the OpenLearning platform. This allowed potential home buyers across the country to complete the requirement conveniently. The results were significant: over 25,000 users enrolled in less than ten months with a 71.5% completion rate, empowering them to feel confident in their loan applications. OpenLearning enabled AKPK to scale its efforts, reaching an average of 2,567 Malaysians per month and adapting seamlessly to spikes in demand.
