Case Study: Aqua Ray builds flexible, scalable storage with OpenIO SDS

A OpenIO Case Study

Preview of the Aqua Ray Case Study

How Aqua Ray Leverages OpenIO’s Conscience Technology to Build a Flexible Storage Infrastructure

Aqua Ray, a Paris-based cloud service provider founded in 2003, needed a storage infrastructure that was flexible, easy to manage, and cost-effective while still delivering reliability and scalability for its cloud, backup, compliance, and archiving services. To meet those needs, Aqua Ray chose OpenIO SDS as the back-end for its storage platform.

OpenIO helped Aqua Ray deploy an object storage infrastructure built on recycled heterogeneous hardware across three datacenters, using OpenIO SDS and its Conscience technology to avoid disruptive rebalancing when new nodes are added. The result was a low-TCO, scalable system that could grow quickly with business demand, support 20% yearly storage growth, and be managed by a small team with strong visibility through OpenIO’s web UI, CLI, and API.
