Case Study: Dailymotion achieves scalable, hardware-agnostic storage with OpenIO

A OpenIO Case Study

Preview of the Dailymotion Case Study

Dailymotion selects OpenIO for easy scaling of its storage system and to optimize use of its machine pool

Dailymotion, the French video streaming platform with more than 300 million users, needed to modernize its storage infrastructure to handle massive growth, improve reliability and security, and reduce dependence on a single technology. The company wanted a storage approach that was hardware agnostic, easier to scale, and better suited to its 800+ million videos and associated thumbnails.

Dailymotion chose OpenIO Object Storage to build a highly scalable, software-defined storage cluster that could serve as both backup and primary storage behind its web application and CDN. With OpenIO, Dailymotion deployed a 28-machine cluster delivering 40 PB of usable storage for 1.4 billion objects, achieved up to 50% lower TCO, and gained faster expansion, reconfiguration, and fault management with transparent failovers during maintenance and incidents.
