Blizzard Entertainment centralizes post-production with OpenDrives for 200+ broadcast streams

Blizzard Entertainment faced the challenge of managing post-production for its massive annual BlizzCon event, which was becoming increasingly ambitious. Their previous decentralized process, where different stages handled their own post work and physically shuttled drives between broadcast trucks, was inefficient. To streamline workflows for the 2018 event, they sought a centralized solution and turned to vendor OpenDrives.

OpenDrives implemented a 500 TB all-flash storage solution to centralize all post-production activities within a single facility, known as the Post Hub. This solution supported a team of editors and operators, creating massive efficiencies by eliminating the need to physically move storage drives. The capacity proved more than sufficient for the entire event, successfully meeting the massive demands of BlizzCon.
