Huntsville, Alabama-based Baron is replacing the end-of-life PLM system with modern OpenBOM Web Services and uses REST API to migrate and consolidate product data

Baron Weather, a provider of meteorological and radar detection systems, faced significant challenges managing over 6,000 unique parts with an end-of-life product lifecycle management (PLM) system. Their data was siloed and unmanageable, with bills of materials (BOMs) stored directly on drawings, preventing accurate cost tracking and efficient part management.

OpenBOM provided a modern cloud-based solution accessed via its REST API, which Baron Weather used to successfully migrate all its historical data from the legacy FusePLM system. The implementation by OpenBOM enabled the company to consolidate its product data, accurately roll up costs, and efficiently manage parts and BOMs. The result was a complete replacement of the old system, giving the company reliable data to support sales and allowing engineers to manage components and their usage across all products in a single place.
