A OpenAirlines Case Study
Philippine Airlines (PAL), the country's largest international carrier, faced the challenge of being data-rich but information-poor (DRIP). Despite having vast amounts of raw flight data, manual analysis in spreadsheets led to slow, inflexible insights, hindering their fuel efficiency goals. To counter this, PAL partnered with vendor OpenAirlines to implement its SkyBreathe® fuel management system and the companion MyFuelCoach® pilot application.
OpenAirlines' SkyBreathe® solution integrated all data sources, using AI to perform automated analysis and generate actionable insights. The MyFuelCoach® app empowered pilots to self-assess their performance and contributed to a stronger fuel-conscious culture. As a result, over nine months, OpenAirlines helped PAL save 3.7 million kg of fuel, resulting in $4.1 million in financial savings and a reduction of 11,629 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
