Case Study: easyJet improves flight efficiency with OpenAirlines SkyBreathe

A OpenAirlines Case Study

Preview of the easyJet Case Study

FDM data key to easyJet’s flight efficiency

The European airline easyJet sought to reduce its carbon emissions in alignment with its ambitious Net Zero roadmap. A key challenge was effectively using Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) to improve fuel efficiency and then communicating that data to its crews and base managers in a usable format. To address this, easyJet partnered with vendor OpenAirlines to implement its SkyBreathe® fuel efficiency platform.

OpenAirlines' solution integrated multiple data sources, including FDM data, to provide detailed analytics and achieve fuel savings based on performance models. A pivotal feature was the MyFuelCoach™ app, which gave pilots personalized feedback and flight briefings. The implementation was completed after successful user acceptance testing, with the full rollout of the analytics application planned for late 2023. OpenAirlines' SkyBreathe® provided easyJet with a single source of data to engage its crew and drive a fuel-conscious culture across the business.
