Case Study: Norwegian Air improves flight planning accuracy and cuts fuel use with OpenAirlines SkyBreathe APM

A OpenAirlines Case Study

Preview of the Norwegian Air Case Study

Accurate measurements improve aircraft performance management at Norwegian Air

Norwegian Air, a major airline with a modern fleet of Boeing aircraft, sought to improve fuel efficiency and aircraft performance management. The carrier partnered with OpenAirlines and implemented its SkyBreathe® APM solution to automate data analysis and gain precise insights into fleet performance, aiming to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption and increase flight crew confidence in flight plans.

The SkyBreathe® APM solution from OpenAirlines automated the collection and analysis of cruise data, enabling Norwegian to accurately monitor performance deviations for each aircraft. This allowed for precise adjustments to flight planning systems and timely maintenance actions. As a result, Norwegian achieved more accurate fuel planning, avoided carrying unnecessary fuel, and gained the ability to distinguish between normal and abnormal performance deteriorations, leading to significant operational improvements and cost savings.
