Swiss Re, the Zurich‑based reinsurer with more than 14,000 employees across 60+ locations, was struggling with a centrally routed internet architecture and an aging proxy platform that could not cope with heavy browser, video and cloud traffic. That congestion degraded business‑critical application performance and user experience, and security teams would not accept a cloud or separate proxy compromise. To address this, Swiss Re engaged Open Systems and its Mission Control Security Services for a managed, secure proxy solution.

Open Systems deployed its Mission Control managed proxy/security service, delivering a Zurich design in two days and completing installation and commissioning in eight days, then migrating sites incrementally. The rollout created regional internet breakouts (including Australia, China, India, Switzerland, Brazil, South Africa and both U.S. coasts), restored application performance, removed the operational instability of the old platform, and provided a resilient, scalable service with transparent monitoring and auditability via the Mission Control Portal—reducing operational risk and preparing Swiss Re for further cloud and unified‑communications growth.
